Park your bikes at the door, please.

It was a nice ride. The day wasn't too cold, wasn't too hot. There were lots of people running, walking, and biking on the trail. There were about seven bikers coming toward us. I warned my friend, "be careful, here comes a biker gang." They all smiled and said, "hi," as they rolled by.

The grass and foliage were green and beautiful. There were birds sitting on wires, calling out from trees, and flitting around in the sky. Of course, every time I tried to take a picture of a bird, it would fly away.

The "bikers not allowed trail" looked nice. If we'd had the time (and chains & locks) I wouldn't have minded locking the bike against something (probably would get in trouble if I locked it against a tree) and roaming around. There looked to be a nice water area, that probably had birds, turtles, frogs, and other water creatures. Next time.

First river trip of the year.

Some of us hit the road too late to get to go kayaking, yesterday. After traveling many miles, and some really hilly roads, we made it to camp. This little bird sat for me to take its picture. I took several, but none really came out clear.
Sitting in camp and watching the birds while waiting for the others to get back, after their river trip, was fine, for a while. I decided to hike through the trees, down the hill, collect ticks, and find out what was going on down in the river. They were fishing. How cool! There's a horn that blows when they have to get out of the water of the evening, and it blows in the morning, when it's time to start fishing.
Camping was fun. Watching the fire, visiting, and listening to the owls was quite entertaining.
Morning finally dawned. The sun came out and said hello. Time to hit the river.
We got into our trusty kayaks around 10:45. We landed, seven miles of beautiful nature and plenty of sunburn later, around 3:45. This bridge was pretty close to the end of the trip. One more picture and several words about the trip are posted at the other blog.

Water rising

All the rain we've received in the past week is causing the creeks to rise. Sights like this remind us of the 1993 flood. We're hoping that doesn't happen again.
